We specialize in adult primary care services for adults ages 21 and older.
The providers and staff at Jefferson Internal Medicine are committed to providing compassionate, quality care for you and your families during this time of uncertainty due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
In order to ensure the health and safety of our patients, all patients and visitors must wear a mask and maintain social distancing. We ask that you do not walk in to the office without a scheduled appointment. You must schedule an appointment to be seen. All patients are being asked screening questions to evaluate risk factors for COVID-19 upon scheduling. The results of the screening will determine whether patients will be brought into the office to be seen or sent to a COVID-19 screening facility. Anyone with a previously arranged appointment that has traveled within the past 14 days, or with symptoms of cough or fever or that has had known exposure to COVID-19 must speak with a staff member prior to entering the suite.
We will not be offering the COVID-19 immunization in our office at this time. We recommend visiting PA.gov or contacting the Health Department for vaccine phases, distribution and locations.
We understand how stressful the uncertainties may be.

eVisits are now available!
eVisits are an electronic visit with your provider that does not require a face to face encounter and is performed over a secure internet connection using the patient portal. eVisits are only available for established patients and can only be used for specific symptoms that may not require your physical presence in the office. Most insurance plans are now covering this service at this time. If your insurance plan does NOT cover the eVisit, you will be responsible for this charge. Plans that are covering the eVisit may apply a copay or deductible. We do recommend that you verify your coverage first by contacting your insurance company.
eVisits are NOT to be used for urgent issues. Please call 911 if you are experiencing a true medical emergency. Please note that you will only be able to submit an eVisit for the following symptoms: Low back pain, sore throat, conjunctivitis, URI (cough/cold), UTI (Male and Female versions), rash and headache. If you call for medical treatment over the phone you may incur a fee.
If you have not set up your patient portal yet, please call the office for an activation code.
The Centers for Disease Control recommends everyone six months and older get a flu vaccine.
Please call the office to schedule your flu vaccine.
You can receive the vaccine at the time of your regularly scheduled appointment.

HIGHMARK & UPMC
Jefferson Internal Medicine is an independent practice. You may continue to receive care at our office indefinitely as we will remain providers for both networks for most products. As insurance companies are continually adding new products, we ask you to call to verify whether we are in network with your carrier.
- We are a participating provider in Highmark's new Community Blue.
- We are a participating provider for UPMC's Premium and Standard networks.
- Unfortunately, we are NOT a participating provider in UPMC's new Partner and Select networks.
- We are NOT in the UPMC for Life Premier network. This is a new product and has $0 premiums and a very narrow network.
- We are NOT in network with Aetna Better Health.
- We are in network and considered a Tier 2 level provider for the MyCare Advantage plan.
Again, please contact your insurance company for verification prior to scheduling.

When you are in the main visitor parking lot looking at the hospital we are in the medical office building that is attached to the left of the hospital. When you enter the building you are already on the third floor. We are down the hall to your left. Valet parking is available through the hospital for $5 or you can self park for $2.
Established patients can schedule appointments through the patient portal or directly through the website

Please contact your pharmacy with all refill requests.
We do not refill prescriptions or prescribe any antibiotics, pain medications outside normal business hours.

Most major insurance plans are accepted. Unfortunately, we are not able to confirm whether or not we will be considered an in network provider for your particular plan. To protect our patients, we ask that you contact your insurance company to confirm that the practice is in network with your plan.
Each year insurance companies come out with new products. Some products have very narrow networks and only allow you to see providers that are owned by that insurance carrier. As we are an independent practice and not owned by any insurance company or hospital system, we may be excluded. To further protect yourself, when you call your insurance company, please keep a record of who you spoke with, the date, time and a reference number for the call. We hope this explanation is helpful.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT REGARDING JEFFERSON HOSPITAL
Effective 5/2/16 our patients that are hospitalized at Jefferson Hospital will be cared for by a provider from Jefferson Cardiology. Dr. Lilienthal will be working directly with Jefferson Cardiology providers and communicating with them on a regular basis regarding your treatment and care.
We are excited by our new agreement with Jefferson Cardiology as this will allow us to offer our patients more access to our providers in the office.
